Twister

“Let's get ready to Twister!” Twister was released by the Milton Bradley Company in 1966. And within the first year of its release more than 3 million copies were sold. Its success may partially be due to the fact that Johnny Carson demonstrated how to play it on the “Tonight Show.”

Twister was the first game ever invented that required people to use their bodies as playing pieces. The goal of Twister is to outlast your opponents by stretching and entwining your body like a pretzel around a large vinyl mat emblazoned with multicolored circles without falling down. And when more than 2 people play the mat can get crowded! One strategy that can be used to help you win is to move toward an opponent's portion of the mat, forcing the player to go over or under you to place a hand or foot!

Besides working your stomach muscles by causing you to laugh at the crazy positions you and your opponents are in, playing Twister is a good balancing exercise and can build strength in your arms and legs.
