Dare to Excel Newsletter for Parents
When weekends, school breaks and summer are added together, kids spend many hours outside of school walls. How this time is spent affects their growth and development, as well as their success at school. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers a monthly newsletter during the school year, September through May, to help parents help their children become better learners.
“Our Dare to Excel newsletter shares information about what parents can do at home or in the community that will help children succeed at school,” said Sandra McKinnon, Family Life Program Specialist who serves Harrison County.
McKinnon said each newsletter will consistently feature proven parenting practices that research has shown help children become better learners.
“You’ll get practical suggestions on topics such as the importance of routines, good nutrition, developing life skills and a lot more,” Sandra said.
