“Ignite the Flame” is the theme for the 2008 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, Animal Science ROUNDUP and CSI:Crops. Over 1000 youth will attend the conference to be held June 24-26.

The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Program is for 4-H’ers planning to exhibit swine, beef, sheep, dairy animals, goats, poultry and rabbits at the Harrison County Fair or the Iowa State Fair. All exhibitors must either attend a training meeting or test out.

These interactive spreadsheets for Microsoft® Excel from the Iowa Beef Center (IBC) assists producers in balancing rations for their different types of cattle and helps them better used home-raised feeds

The average value of an acre of farmland in Harrison County increased by $680 or 22% from last years value to a new high of $3,773 in 2007. Statewide, the average value of an acre of farmland in Iowa increased by just over $700 during the past year, to an all-time high of $3,908, according to an annual survey conducted by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension.

Research has shown that disposition is a heritable trait that can be improved by proper culling strategies.

Pine wilt is a common disease that causes browning and death of pines, especially Scots pines. Austrian, mugo, red, jack, and white pine may also be affected, but less commonly than Scots pines.
