Interested in Joining The Boyer Valley 4-H First Lego League Club for 2009....

What will they do?: They will learn teamwork and then work on programming a Lego MINSTORM NXT Robot to complete specific tasks on an 8 foot by 8 foot challenge field. They will also identify a community project and plan a presentation that they will share with Community Leaders.  These teams will participate as an Iowa First Lego League Team in the Western Iowa Regional Competition in December.

Boyer Valley 4-H First Lego League Team 4-H Member Application Process

2. Have a Parent fill out the Parent Recommendation form (download here) (.pdf)

3. Turn them in to Mrs. Klein.
   

Teams will meet once or twice weekly to prepare their team project and presentation and learn to build and  program their robot for completing the challenges that their robot must complete in the 2 1/2 minute rounds of competition .

What will youth participants get out of it?:

• Full membership as a Harrison County 4-H'er making them eligible for lots of great activities throughout the year.
• Lots of great skills for working as a member of a technology team.
• Programming skills in  using the Lego Mindstorm software to set up your robot to complete the tasks needed in the challenge.
• Lots of fun just messing around with the Mindstorm Robots and the challenge equipment.
• Research and Communication skills in working with their community project focused on the 2009 First Lego League Season Theme of "Smart Moves," looking at transportation in their community.
