Buck Rose - Piccolo Pete

Piccolo Pete (1984)

Medium red shrub. The medium-large, ovoid-pointed buds of ruby red (RHSCC 59A) open to single (7-10 petals), flat, 4-4.5 inch blooms of indian lake (RHSCC 59B) which age to light indian lake (RHSCC 59D). The blooms are borne in clusters of 1-10 and have a pleasantly sweet fragrance. The abundant, large foliage is dark olive green and leathery with good field tolerance to normal foliar disease. The thorns are tan and slightly hooked. The erect, bushy, 3-4.5 ft plant is free-branching and blooms from June until killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
