Hancock County Extension office will host a Roadside, Forest and Aquatic Pest Management Continuing Instructional Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. The program can be seen at locations across Iowa through the Iowa State University Extension Pest Management and the Environment (PME) Program.
The local site for the Oct. 21 CIC is the Hancock County Extension Office, 327 West 8th Street, Garner. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by sessions 9 to 11:30 a.m. The registration fee is $35 before Oct. 14 and $45 after Oct. 14. The 2009 course will provide continuing instructional credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 2 (Forest Pest Control); 5 (Aquatic Pest Control); 6 (Right-of-Way Pest Control) and 10 (Demonstration and Research). Topics to be covered include pesticide labels; pesticide stewardship; equipment calibration and safe application techniques; and weed, plant pathogen and insect pest updates.
