After School Kids' 4-H Club

After School Kids' 4-H Club is an opportunity offered to 4th-5th grade students at Garner-Hayfield and 3rd-5th grade students at West Hancock each semester. It is a 4-H Club that meets after school on Mondays in Garner and on Tuesdays in Britt from 3:15-5:00 PM. Club members help decide the topic they want to explore each semester and we work together to decide on which experts to invite and where to take a field trip. The topic can be art, photography, science, or gardening just to name a few. This past semester the clubs learned more about the Outdoors which included Iowa wildlife, 4-H shooting sports, ice fishing, and bicycle safety.   They also did a community service project and were able to visit the Science Center of Iowa.

Each week club members do hands-on activities related to their chosen topic, play games, and enjoy a healthy snack. This semester the clubs will start meeting on January 30 at the Garner-Hayfield Elem/Middle School library and on January 31 in the elementary art room at West Hancock. Deadline for registration is January 25. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact the Extension Office.
