Hancock County Extension connects the citizens of the county to educational opportunities through community outreach. A great opportunity for an individual, who is passionate about education, has strong communication skills and can market/promote educational opportunities through strong partnerships and collaborations while working in a progressive team environment. 

September 2, 2015

Hancock County Extension invites everyone to come celebrate and kick-off National 4-H Week by joining us at the 4-H 4K run/walk and open house on Sunday, October 4th at the Garner Education Center, 325 W. 8th Street.  The 4K run/walk start time is 2:30 PM with a 4-H Open House from 3:00- 5:00 PM.  4K racers will get a commemorative race t-shirt.  Cost for racers is $15 and registration is due September 15th.  You do not have to be a current 4-H member to participate.  Race is open to everyone.  Please contact the Extension Office at 641-923-2856 or vschmidt@iastate.edu for registration information.

All 4-Hers in grades 7-12 have the opportunity to serve on a County Youth Council.  Being on County Council is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the 4-H program.  Applications are available now.  Deadline to apply is Friday, October 2nd, 2015.  For more information click here.

Our 4-H Award program will be 4:00pm Sunday, November 8th, 2015 at the Garner Hayfield Ventura High School auditorium.

All award applications and record keeping is due into the Extension Office on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

  • Bronze, Silver, and Gold project area awards are received by meeting all listed requirements. 
  • Competitive awards are chosen by a committee based on your application and supporting 4-H records.
