November 17, 2014

Annual training is required for private pesticide applicators wanting to re-certify to apply restricted use pesticides.  Certified applicators who do not attend annual training will have to take an exam to re-certify.

Uncertainties remain in terms of the costs and benefits associated with its implementation. However, many of the new provisions of the ACA may address some of the issues faced by farm families when it comes to health coverage.

Angela Rieck-Hinz is the new extension field agronomist for north central Iowa. She brings expertise in crop production and protection to this position, which serves a nine-county area. Farmers, agribusiness and ag partners have worked with Rieck-Hinz in her previous Iowa State University Extension and Outreach position as coordinator for the Manure Applicator Certification Program the past 16 years.

Leadership by the City of Webster City, Hamilton County Conservation and ISU Extension and Outreach, Hamilton County organize a  community wide service project to clean up the Boone River here in Hamilton County.  This project helps the environment and helps to make the river safer and more enjoyable for all.
