GRIMES, Iowa -- The science of auto racing and a fast time behind the wheel await some Iowa 4-H youth July 30. Approximately 30 youth will learn about science, technology, engineering and math in NASCAR and challenge NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace to a go cart race.

The event begins at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the MB2 Raceway, 1350 SE Gateway Drive, Suite 108, in Grimes.

U.S. Cellular, along with Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small and Wallace, will lead a discussion on the role STEM plays within NASCAR. Wallace also will answer questions and participate in a go cart race with 4-H youth.

“This educational and fun opportunity allows youth to learn about aerodynamic principles such as drag, downforce and drafting – with a NASCAR driver,” said Keli Tallman, a 4-H youth development specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
