The Extension Office will be having three summer day camps for youth currently in grades K-3 in June.
All the camps are held at the Grundy County Fairgrounds in Grundy Center from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. There is a $15 registration fee for each camp. Campers are to bring a sack lunch and beverages and snacks are provided.
On Tuesday, June 10th, a "Safety" Day Camp will be held for Kindergartners and 1st graders. The youth will learn of ways to stay safe at home or while visting friends. Come for a day of fun as you learn:
- What to do if there is a fire
- Safe places to play
- The importance of using sun screen
- A few games
- How to be safe around chemicals
- The importance of washing your hands and keeping food safe
- Have lots of FUN!

On Monday, June 16th, "Art Explosion" Day Camp will be held for Kindergarteners and 1st graders. Come explore your creative side as you.....
- Experiment with mixed colors
- Explode geometric shapes
- Make bread dough clay
- Create dream catchers
- Make seed mosaics
- Sponge paint
You are sure to create a masterpiece as you learn about design and get a little messy! Registration deadline is June 9th.
On Tuesday, June 24th, "Fizz, Bubble, Goo" Day Camp for youth in 2nd and 3rd grades will be held. Ever wonder:
- What makes an "alka-seltzer" fizz?
- How to make your own bubbles and bubble blower?
- How to make garbage can root beer?
- What "mystery compounds" are in your house?
You'll never be bored on a rainy day again when you discover the magic hiding all around your house! Never a dull or Unmessy moment! Registration deadline is June 17th.
Registration forms for the camps are available at the Grundy County Extension Office. Space for the camps are limited so sign up early.
