AMES, Iowa — The USDA confirmed the first Iowa case of highly pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza in a commercial turkey flock in Buena Vista County this week. The flock is located within the Mississippi flyway where this strain of avian influenza has previously been identified.

Iowa State University’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has posted links to general information and factsheets about avian influenza and directions for submitting samples.
