The Agricultural Act of 2014 allows farmland owners and operators to make a one-time election of a commodity program among the Price Loss Coverage (PLC), the Agricultural Risk Coverage at the County Level (ARC-CO), and the Agricultural Risk Coverage at the Individual Level (ARC-IC) programs for 2014 through 2018.

AMES, Iowa – Nate Anderson, a Cherokee area farmer, had the perfect spot at the 2014 Farm Progress Show. Between large seed company tents and blocks filled with farm equipment, Anderson joined Iowa State University experts and Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey to talk about cover crops and no-till planting – two management tools he uses in his corn-soybean acreage program.

AMES, Iowa -- The 14h Annual Iowa Organic Conference will be held Nov. 16-17 on the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, as a joint effort between Iowa State University and the UI Office of Sustainability. Producers and experts from across the country will share tips for transitioning into organic production and methods to enhance organic operations.

AMES, Iowa — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will conduct Good Agricultural Practices workshops in Indianola on Oct. 4 and 18, and Sioux City on Nov. 19 and 25. The one-day workshops are important for fruit and vegetable growers who want to better understand how GAPs can be used to meet buyers' food safety requirements.

  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Extension provides resources for the hospitality industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields.
