Alliant Energy and Iowa DNR are sponsoring The Operation ReLeaf Residential Tree Program in Jefferson. Operation ReLeaf is a partnership initiative to aid long-term energy and natural resource conservation. The program is funded by Alliant Energy, and administered by the Greene County Conservation Board along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources – Bureau of Forestry. this fall trees will be available to Alliant Energy customers through distribution in Dallas County on September 22. Monarch butterflies are beautiful, but vanishing.The Iowa Monarch Conservation Consortium was created by Iowa State University, farmer and commodity groups, conservation organizations, private companies and state agencies in February 2015 to enhance monarch reproduction in Iowa. On Thursday, May 26th at 7 pm,  ISU Extension & Outreach – Greene County and Master Gardeners will present a community program with Dr. Bob Hartzler on Iowa efforts to increase habitat and turn around the rapidly declining monarch  population.
