Greene County 4-H members, families, and volunteers are invited to a countywide Greene County 4-H picnic at Spring Lake, to be held Saturday, August 29, beginning with activities at 6:00pm and the meal starting at 6:30pm. Also invited are youth and families interested in joining or learning more about 4-H. The event is being organized by the Greene County 4-H Youth Development Committee to celebrate the new 4-H year through food and fun. Attendees will get the chance to participate in activities such as a scavenger hunt, yard games, kickball, art, and skating. Skating will be avaible after the meal until 8p.m.
The Greene County 4-H and FFA sheep and goat weigh-in is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. All market lambs and goats to be exhibited at the 2015 Greene County Fair are required to be weighed and tagged during this time, with complete identification forms turned in. Greene County 4-H’ers and volunteers will be recognized for their achievements and contributions at the annual Greene County 4-H Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Greene County High School Auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.
Enrollment and re-enrollment is now open for the Greene County 4-H program. The 4-H program is a national one that empowers young people in grades 4th through 12th to reach their full potential through working and learning in partnership with caring adults. Interested youth can join Greene County 4-H by visiting the ISU Extension and Outreach – Greene County office to complete initial enrollment paperwork and to learn more about 4-H club options available to join to become an active member. Greene County 4-H currently has ten active organizational clubs that meet across the county, including meeting sites in Jefferson, Grand Junction, Scranton, Churdan, and Rippey.
