A total of eight Greene County youth attended the Region 12 4-H Intermediate Bus Trip to Omaha on Saturday, April 21st.
The trip for intermediate 4-H’ers (seventh and eighth grades) was jointly planned by the six county Extension offices in Region 12, including Greene, Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Guthrie, and Shelby counties.
Youth attending from Greene County included Reilly Harrington, Emily Heupel, and Jack Schilling, all of Jefferson, as well as Olivia Hanlon of Churdan, Reilly Niles of Paton, Lucas Fisher of Dana, Wyatt Funcke of Jamaica, and Thomas Jacobson of Perry.
On the trip, a total of 33 4-H’ers from Region 12 spent time at the Henry Doorly Zoo, where they strolled the animal exhibits and also enjoyed an IMAX showing of Sharks. The group also visited the Amazing Pizza Machine, where they enjoyed a meal, and took part in activities available like arcade games and bumper cars.
Greene County Extension youth and families coordinator Sarah Jo Fevold said the first-time event was a success. “I observed 4-H’ers meeting new friends and having fun while learning new things,” she said, “and that’s what 4-H is all about.” According to Fevold, plans for another trip next spring are already in the works.
