4-H Awards Ceremony November 15!

Join us on Sunday, November 16, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the Parish Center in Jefferson for the annual 4-H Awards Ceremony! (note change in location this year) Come help up celebrate the acheivement of our outstanding 4-Hers! Attendees will get to see the slideshow from 2008-09, be eligible for door prize drawings, and hear a presentation from ISU Extension staff on the future of Extension on our Greene County 4-H Program!

Beef Weigh-In

4-H Market Beef Weigh-in

Market beef weigh-in will take place on SUNDAY, December 20 from 1-4:30 pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds. This is a NEW day and time. Any youth who are considering showing beef at the 2010 Greene County Fair, Iowa State Fair or Ak-Sar-Ben need to attend and weigh-in their cattle. Follow this link for more specific information.

Local Donors Help Bridge Gap of 4-H Enrollment Fee Hike

Due to the degree of budget cuts the Iowa 4-H Program has had to deal with this year, the annual 4-H enrollment fee will be higher for the 2009-10 year. But four local organizations are investing in our youth to help bridge the gap and provide a low-cost, high-quality program to our kids!

Operation: Military Kids Supports Children Affected by Deployment

Operation: Military KidsAnother 3,500 Iowa National Guard Soldiers will be deployed for duty in Afghanistan in fall 2010. Iowa children who will have family members deploying can get help from Operation: Military Kids.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Deadline Is Nov. 2

Iowa 4-H Foundation Announces Winner of 2009 Toyota “Clover” Corolla

Craig Griffieon of Ankeny has won the 2009 Toyota “Clover” Corolla in the second annual Iowa 4-H Vehicle Raffle. The drawing was held Oct 9 over the noon hour on WHO Radio’s The Big Show to culminate National 4-H Week.
Iowa 4-H Announces State Horse Judging Contest Winners

The Madison County 4-H Horse Judging team placed first among five senior teams at the 2009 Iowa 4-H State Horse Judging Contest Oct. 3. Other placings went to teams from Clinton, Buena Vista, Howard and Madison counties.
4-H’er Is Healthy Iowa Emerging Leader

Devin De Weerd, an Iowa State University student and Sioux County 4-H’er, received the Healthy Iowa Emerging Leader Award from the Wellness Council of Iowa in partnership with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Nutrition, and the Academy for a Healthy Iowa.
