Making nutritious food choices can be a challenge whether you're facing a hungry family or just your own growling stomach. A new program from Iowa State University Extension is designed to help consumers of all ages blend time-saving convenience with nutritious, dollar-stretching food choices.

Youth Practice Communication Skills at "Speak Easy" Program

These kindergarten and first graders spent the afternoon of April 24 practicing communications skills during the Iowa State University Greene County Extension “Speak Easy” program taught by Annette Brown, 4-H Youth Development Specialist, at the Greene County Community Center. The highlight of the day was performing the “Three Sisters” skit for Parks and Recreation afterschool youth and for their family members that came to pick them up.

Referral Program Helps farm/Rural Families Deal with Major Change, Stress

If you or someone you know is experiencing major change or stress associated with rural life, the Sowing the Seeds of Hope program may be able to help. The program offers no-cost mental health services – up to five one-hour sessions with a professional provider – for eligible farm/rural family members who do not have insurance coverage or who are underinsured.
