Extension Council members are elected by the voters of Greene County to serve four year terms.  They oversee the planning, preparation, marketing and delivery of the extension educational programs in the county.  Every county in Iowa has an extension council.  Extension Countils provide, through a unique partnership with Iowa State University and other federal and state organizations, research-based, unbiased information and education to help county citizens make better decisions.

 Pat Griffin

Pat Griffin of Jefferson has been elected to the board of directors of the Iowa Association of County Extension Councils, according to Margaret Mordan, President of the association.  Griffin is a 13-year member of the Greene County Extension Council.

The Iowa Association of County Extension Councils represents 900 council members.  At the local level, county extension councils manage ISU Extension programs for agriculture and natural resources, business and industry, communities, families, 4-H youth development, and extended and continuing education.

"The association helps county extension councils network with Iowa State University to promote and strengthen local and statewide ISU Extension programs," Mordan said.  "It helps county extension councils share ideas, programs and resources, address common concerns, take a statewide approach to issues, and have an effect on decision-making regarding ISU Extension."
