Student Spotlight

Kortney Wagner

Kortney Wagner is a first year student in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Graduate Program. She is originally from Wapello, Iowa, and completed her undergraduate degree at Iowa State in Biological Systems Engineering.

Kortney’s research project is estimating the process value of soybeans. She is working on updating Thomas Brumm’s model that he created when pursuing his Ph.D in 1990. Kortney is building on the previous model with testing the amino acids, fatty acids, and sugars of soybeans. Her goal is to make a useful model that is easy to use.

After graduation, Kortney aspires to find work in quality assurance for an oat or grain processing facility in northeast Iowa. Her favorite thing about being a Cyclone is sitting in the student section at Jack Trice!
