Professional Development

Plan Leaders: Alan Ladd and Bruce Stoll

Long-Term Goal

Implement a professional development program by July 1, 2006, that includes technical/content, process, and entrepreneurial and cultural competencies for all ISU Extension staff.

Short-Term Goals

1. Identify necessary staff competencies, including both process and content by June 30, 2005.

2. Assess competencies by December 31, 2005.

3. Develop and implement a training plan to expand competencies by July 1, 2006.

4. Increase scholarship of all staff by July 1, 2007.

Action Steps (Bruce Stoll, Area Directors, and Program Directors)

1. Supervisors and staff will identify professional or technical content, process, and entrepreneurial competencies for each position.  Some competencies will be system specific while others will be position specific.

2. Develop and administer a competency assessment instrument to all staff.

3. Analyze the results of the competency assessment.

4. Allocate training development resources based on cost benefit analyses.

5. Staff members will develop training goals with their supervisors.

End date: June 30, 2005

Start date: Jan. 1, 2005
End date: Dec. 31, 2005

End date: July 1, 2006

Short-Term Goal 4:

Start date: July 1, 2004
End date: July 1, 2007
