Children's Health Fair to be held in Hamburg April 5th
“Strong families, safe children, and concerned caring neighbors” is the mission statement for the annual Children’s Health Fair scheduled for Friday April 5th for the Fremont County area.
Marnie Simons Elementary School in Hamburg will host the area event starting at 3:30 with physical fitness and educational activities in the gymnasium. At 5:00 p.m. booths offering children and parents educational information, healthy snacks, craft activities, and games will be ready for participants. A & M Greenpower Grillers will cook hot dogs and serve up a light supper.
Sandra McKinnon, Iowa State University Family Life Specialist, will gather the audience at 6:00 p.m. for the keynote presentation. Families are encouraged to sit together to have fun and to listen for ways to make families and communities “stronger.” Participants will be asked to fill out an evaluation form and return it to be eligible for prizes featuring a variety of family games. The grand prize is an X-Box! The drawing will be held following the keynote presentation and participants must be present to win.
Families will become super health heroesby exploring activities that can not only make their bodies healthier, but make them laugh and be happy. Activities planned are: Zumba, yoga, boot camp challenges, Jazzercise, dancing, face painting and other surprises. Make sure you stick around after the keynote speaker for some modern dance lessons and the “Young at Heart Dance” to thank all of our volunteers.
The Children’s Health fair is made possible through funding from the Community Partnership for Protecting Children’s (CPPC) Neighborhood Networks. The grant is from the Fremont, Page and Taylor Decategorization Project Area. The sponsors and planning team this year are: Kornerstone Kids Child Care Center, George C.
