I had a producer in here recently that his neighbors that are willing to take (free) manure from his livestock operation. Do you know if there are any contracts out there for this type of a relationship?
Selling or giving away manure is complicated by the type of livestock facility the manure is coming from and for most situations, by regulatory requriements. And even if money does not exchange hands, there are still requirements to follow based upon the part of the livestock owner and the person receiving the manure. The first step is to determine if the manure is coming from an confinement feeding operation or from an open lot.
You can also find additional resources on the Iowa Manure Management Action Group(IMMAG) web page at: http://www.agronext.iastate.edu/immag/buysellmanure.html The links to the DNR materials on this site are currently broken, but I will get those fixed ASAP.
Included on that site are example sales and "intent to purchase" forms.
