Store it right

  • Use see-through storage containers for refrigerated leftovers.
  • Label, date, and freeze leftover main dishes in meal-size servings.
  • Check supplies before going to the store.
  • Make less by reducing the size of the recipe (pdf) you're preparing.
  • Write the date on packaged foods before storing in freezer or cupboard. Arrange supplies so the oldest items are in front so you will see and use them first.

Make a salad bar. Use whatever you have on hand that sounds good to go in a salad, including leftovers. Almost anything goes for salads. Line the ingredients up on the counter and include bottles of salad dressing and homemade oil and vinegar at the end.
