Online Food Safety Training

FREE Online Food Safety Training Available for Iowa Foodservice Establishments

The ServSafe Starters Employee Online Course was designed for food handlers. These employees have the day to day responsibility of ensuring the food they prepare and serve to consumers is safe. The course educates and tests employees about critical food safety knowledge and the important role they play in a food safety program. Retail foodservices benefit from having properly trained food handlers, which is a must in decreasing the risk of foodborne illness.

For a limited time only, the Iowa Food Safety Task Force is offering 250 FREE training opportunities for food handler employees in retail foodservices in Iowa. Download the flyer for additional details.

Food Safety Tip of the Day

Take two.

IAFP - cross contamination icon

Cutting boards are one of the most common kitchen items that causes cross contamination. A different cutting board should be used for raw meat, poultry and seafood than is used for preparing ready-to-eat foods like salads and fruits. The produce often is not cooked before being served, so any contaminants will not have a "kill step" prior to consumption.
