About Us

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach believes that resources are needed for consumers, foodservice operators, students and educators to access research-based, unbiased information on food safety and quality. We conduct food safety research and develop educational materials that give the public the tools they need to minimize their risk of foodborne illness.
Our food safety efforts are part of Human Sciences Extension and Outreach in the College of Human Sciences. A faculty member in the Hospitality Management academic program, our Extension Specialist works with other Iowa State University Food Safety faculty, experts and departments to develop programs and services to improve operations and better serve their patrons for these organizations: hotels, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, schools, hospitals, daycares, and assisted living organizations.
