Plan to attend the Summer Horticulture Showcase that will be taking place on Saturday, August 6 at the Borlaug Learning Center (ISU Research Farm) west of Nashua.  This will be one of the largest gardening events that takes place in North Iowa this year and is open to anyone that would like to learn more about  new garden techniques, fruit trees,wildlife control, etc.

The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame recognizes volunteers and staff who have exhibited outstanding service to their county 4-H program.  2016 Floyd County inductee is Jane Larson of rural Nora Springs.

Tuesday, August 9th at 9:00-11:30 am at the Floyd County Extension office.  Melissa O’Rourke, ISU Extension Farm & Agribusiness Management Specialist will present a wide range of topics related to farmland values and leasing.  O’Rourke is a licensed attorney with extensive experience in working with farm, ranch and agribusiness interests.

Floyd County classes will start on Wednesdays in August and September for the seventh annual ‘Growing Season’ webinar series.  Gardeners will learn about benefits of shade in landscape, tree problems and native garden insects.
