4-H is the youth development outreach of the Land Grant Universities, the Cooperative Extension System and USDA. 4-H'ers are supported in this developmental process by caring adult leaders. Members are actively involved in educational projects that are fun and that use quality curriculum incorporating the most current research and knowledge available through the Land Grant University system.
4-H youth:
- Have fun
- Meet new people
- Learn and do new things
- Gain life skills
- Build self-confidence
- Practice responsibility
- Set and achieve goals
- Receive recognition for their efforts and accomplishments
"Stay involved! "The move involved you are, the more fun you will have." "4-H is what you make of it." "Take charge of your experience and go after all the great opportunities waiting for you." "4-H is the power of YOUth." These were just a couple of quotes given to Michele Kelly, CYC from Fayette County graduating seniors.
Did you know that Fayette County offers Clover Kids program offered to youth in kindergarten through 3rd grade. This group focuses on doing, is non-competitive, work as small groups, teaches life skills and other educational topics.
Traditional 4-H clubs are open to youth in 4th-12th grade. They work in larger groups and focus on goal setting and working towards meeting those goals, keeping records of progress towards their goals, learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
Attached is a Fayette County 4-H Brochure and a Clover Kids Brochure designed to answer your questions. Call the Fayette County Extension Office at 563-425-3331. Staff will connect you with a 4-H club in your area and answer any questions you may have about the 4-H program.
