The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is holding pasture walks in mid-June, giving cow-calf producers an opportunity to hear from experts on brush management and maximizing feeder calf value. The Eric Smith family of Decorah will be hosting one of the walks on June 16.

Pork producers who manage or own a sow herd will want to attend a seminar in northeast Iowa.  ISU Extension and Outreach, Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa Pork Producers Association are sponsoring an advanced swine reproduction seminar.

The number of cover crop acres has increased dramatically over the past five years in Iowa — from less than 10,000 acres in 2009 to about 300,000 acres this fall.  One Iowa farmer who is helping to increase that number is Joe Kriegel who farms and grows cover crops on more than 2,000 acres in Poweshiek County with his three sons, Patrick, Nicholas, and Jared.  Read how he is seeing more benefits than just erosion control.
