Learning and Sharing Newsletter

Problem:
Hispanic families who have been participating in our program expressed their desire to receive more information about spending time as a family, parenting skills related with pre-teens and school, more information about other Hispanic countries, and something for everybody at home counting from grandparents to grandkids.

Response:
ISUE Woodbury County decided to produce a newsletter in Spanish /English to distribute to Hispanic families . The newsletter has three sections: For Parents, Cultural Corner, Nutrition and Health Tip. Part of the newsletter is written by me and part of it is translation of ISUE articles that appear on our website. This way clients who ha ve no Internet access still can read some of the articles. We present our newsletter when we have programs with Hispanic people, and they can sign up to receive the newsletter by mail. The newsletter is produce and distributed quarterly.

Impact:
Through this newsletter we stay in touch with our clients. Right now we have eighty-three Hispanic families who signed up to receive this newsletter by mail. Also we take copies to Sioux City Community Schools – ESL office, who share it with their clients.
