Success Story Response: The county extension directors have been helping promote the concept by visiting with human resource directors in their counties. The O’Brien County Extension Education Director contracted with the three families field specialists in the area to offer a series of three “Lunch and Learn” sessions to human resource directors in the county. The intention was after attending the sessions, they would request extension staff to do programs for their employees. The three Lunch and Learn sessions received an average of 4.37 on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being Poor and 5 being Excellent. Comments included: “ As a banker, a lot of the information … I was aware of.. there are a lot of people that could benefit from this.” “ I’m going to try to prioritize my stressful times/duties every day and make lists to eliminate some stress.” “Helped me be more aware of those situations that are out of my control.” Since the program this summer, the county director has had 3 employers request additional information concerning the “Lunch and Learn” sessions and plans to offer more next year. Two sessions are scheduled for October with the community college employees as a result of the program I presented on “Balancing Work and Family." Besides requests following the “Lunch and Learn," I have received requests for worksite programs in Sioux, Dickinson and Plymouth counties. Contact:
