Science of Parenting: Teaching Manners Leads to Respect, Empathy
AMES, Iowa – Teach children manners and they’re more likely to grow up to be respectful and develop empathy for others, note family life specialists Donna Donald and Lori Hayungs. In November Donald and Hayungs offer tips for parents on helping children learn manners and the connection to respect and empathy in the Science of Parenting blog from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Learn more from their tips on the blog throughout the month of November and in a five-minute podcast.
Through the Science of Parenting, www.scienceofparenting.org, ISU Extension and Outreach specialists share and discuss research-based information and resources to help parents rear their children. Parents can join in the conversation and share thoughts and experiences, as well as how they handle parenting responsibilities.
