Science of Parenting: Help Children Build Friendship Skills
AMES, Iowa – Parents want their children to have friends, but childhood friendships can be puzzling. One day a child is part of the “in group” and the next day he or she is on the outside. What’s a parent to do?
The good news is that parents can help children develop the skills they need to make and keep friends, note family life specialists Donna Donald and Lori Hayungs. In October Donald and Hayungs offer skill building tips for parents and share ideas on unraveling the complex world of children’s friendships in the Science of Parenting blog from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Learn more from their tips on the blog throughout the month of October and in a five-minute podcast.
Through the Science of Parenting, www.scienceofparenting.org, ISU Extension and Outreach specialists share and discuss research-based information and resources to help parents rear their children. Parents can join in the conversation and share thoughts and experiences, as well as how they handle parenting responsibilities.
