High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP)
The High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP) is a turnkey financial literacy program focused on basic personal finance skills relevant to the lives of pre-teens, teens, and young adults.
The program is developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) to support teachers and community organizations as they help youth build a solid foundation for financial independence and decision making. Curriculum materials are free to educators, students and parents and are all new in 2012.
The six units of the High School Financial Planning Program include:
- Money Management: Control Your Cash Flow
- Borrowing: Use-Don’t Abuse
- Earning Power: More Than a Paycheck
- Investing: Money Working for You
- Financial Services: Care for Your Cash
- Insurance: Protect What You Have
HSFPP instructional materials are easy to use with lessons and activities adaptable to the classroom setting, home schooling, or independent learning. Order or download Student Guides and an Instructor’s manual, participate in teacher forums and student interactive games, and access an ever-growing collection of learning tools, articles, and resources on the High School Financial Planning Program site.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NEFE, we are here to help educators access and implement the curriculum. For assistance contact an Extension Family Finance Specialist near you.
