BSE Meetings for Meat Processors
February 10, 11, 12, 21, 2004 Iowa State University Meat Science Extension, Iowa Meat Processors Association and the Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship are co-sponsoring four meetings for Iowa meat processors to discuss new regulations that USDA/FSIS has published to further enhance the United States’ safeguards against BSE. All plants: federal, state-official and state-custom must comply with these new BSE regulations. Also discussed at these meetings will be: 1. appropriate HACCP corrective actions and 2. a HACCP review checklist that you can use to help ensure that your HACCP Plans meet current regulatory standards. Tuesday, February 10 6:00-9:00 p.m. Highlander Inn, Iowa City, IA (Located on the north side of I-80 at Exit 246) Wednesday, February 11 6:00-9:00 p.m. Two Brothers Restaurant, 220 First Street, Independence, IA (First Street is the main east/west street in Independence. Two Brothers Restaurant is located approximately in the middle of downtown on the north side of the street.) Thursday, February 12 6:00-9:00 p.m. Extension/4-H Building, Atlantic, IA (Located on Cass County Fairgrounds, east of Highway 6 on 10th St.) Saturday February 21 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. Iowa State University Meat Laboratory, Ames, IA (The meeting will be in Room 133 Meat Laboratory, which is located on the ground floor of the Meat Laboratory in the northwest corner. When you arrive park next to the horse barns in Lot 79, which is located on the north side of Pammel Drive. Walk across the street to the Meat Laboratory and enter through the door under the blue pipe awning.)
