Release 1: EXTENSION COUNCIL OFFERS CANDIDATES OPPORTUNITIES TO EDUCATE AND SERVE
This story refers to nominating committee, which must be appointed by Aug. 6, 2008, and candidate filing deadline, which is Aug. 27. Use before Aug. 6. If used after Aug. 6, combine with release No. 2 below, and add names of nominating committee members. View online, or download Microsoft Word file.

Release 2: EXTENSION COUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE APPOINTED
For use after nominating committee is appointed (Aug. 4 deadline) and before filing deadline (Aug. 27). View online, or download Microsoft Word file.

Release 3: (FOUR) CANDIDATES NOMINATED FOR EXTENSION COUNCIL
For use after nominating committee completes its work, and before filing deadline (Aug. 27). If used after filing deadline, delete reference in the second sentence of fifth paragraph to candidates who are not nominated by the committee. View online, or download Microsoft Word file.

Release 4: LOOK FOR EXTENSION COUNCIL CANDIDATES ON THE BALLOT

Release 5: (FOUR) ELECTED TO ___________ COUNTY EXTENSION COUNCIL

Important Dates and Deadlines

By August 6, 2008:
Extension council appoints nominating committee to nominate candidates

Between August 4 and August 27, 2008:
Candidates nominated by committee and other interested candidates must file petitions with the county commissioner of elections signed by at least 25 eligible voters

November 4, 2008:
Election Day

Prior to November 26, 2008:
Oath of office administered to successful candidates

Early January 2009:
First meeting of new council to elect new officers and certify names, addresses and terms of office of each council member
