1912. At left, eleven-year-old Lois Edmonds of Page County wins the bread-baking contest in January at Iowa State College using the on-campus laboratory ovens. Lois wins a trip to Washington with her mother and sister. She is presented with a Certificate of Achievement by the United States Secretary of Agriculture.
