'Dare to Excel' Newsletter Helps Parents Help Kids Become Better Learners
When weekends, school breaks and summer are added together, kids spend many hours outside of school walls. How this time is spent affects their growth and development, as well as their success at school. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers a monthly newsletter during the school year, September through May, to help parents help their children become better learners.
“Our Dare to Excel newsletter shares information about what parents can do at home or in the community that will help children succeed at school,” said Lori Hayungs, Family Life Program Specialist who serves Emmet County.
Hayungs said each newsletter will consistently feature proven parenting practices that research has shown help children become better learners.
“You’ll get practical suggestions on topics such as the importance of routines, good nutrition, developing life skills and a lot more."
The September newsletter offers tips on helping children learn how to cope with stress, setting limits for children and providing healthy guidance.
Parents can receive the newsletter as free download by clicking the link below or a printed copy may be picked up at the Emmet County Extension Office.
