The Iowa Senate has launched the centennial celebration of the Smith-Lever Act, the founding legislation of the nationwide Cooperative Extension System. Representatives from ISU Extension and Outreach took part in the event at the Iowa Capitol. The 2014 4-H Clover Knowledge Escapade, communications contest, was held on Sunday, March 16th at the United Methodist Church in Estherville.  Communications skills are very important to the 4-H program and are commonly credited by 4-H alumni as being one of the best things that 4-H taught them.  Participants in 5th grade and up were eligible to be selected to advance on to exhibit in the state communications event at the Iowa State Fair.  Youth in 4th grade and up were eligible to be selected to advance on to exhibit in the district communication event at the Clay County Fair.
