On Saturday, January 31st, 43 4-H'ers from Emmet, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, and Calhoun counties headed to DesMoines as part of the 2015 Quad County Intermediate Trip.  They enjoyed making many new friends and memories on their charter bus ride to and from Des Moines.

The course, offered by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension, takes the real life experiences of an Illinois farm wife and shares them with other farm women who want to learn more about a crucial and complex business environment, their own farm.

On Saturday, January 24, over 70 Northwest Iowa 4-H and FFA youth and over 35 of their parents participated in the Northwest Iowa Beef Bonanza at Iowa Lakes Community College - Emmetsburg Campus.  The event for 4-H and FFA members was organized Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Iowa Lakes Community College staff.

Beth Wycoff, an Emmet County 4-H volunteer, will take the popular Lego Mindstorm Robotics to a higher level after attending the January 24, 2015 Iowa 4-H Youth Development certification training where she learned to teach design and computer programming as a Master Robotics Volunteer.

AMES, IA. The Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP), formerly known as the Pest Management and the Environment Program (PME) at Iowa State University recently updated its moniker. The name change reflects the program’s emphasis on pesticide safety education to various audiences in Iowa, including certified commercial, public, and private applicators as well as pesticide safety awareness for the general public.

The Private Pesticide Applicator's Recertification dates have been set for Emmet County.The first date will be held on January 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the Estherville Masonic Temple and the second date will be held on March 25, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Ringsted American Legion.
