Recent flooding, tornadoes and other severe weather events are causing disruption and changes for many Iowa families. Dealing with damaged or destroyed homes and businesses, changes in working hours and employment, and crop and livestock losses have adults reeling.

2008 Communications Event

On June 29th East Pottawattamie County held their annual Communications Event at the Community Center in Oakland. We had 2 Share the Fun, 9 Educational Presentations, and 3 Working Exhibits this year!

East Pottawattamie had 6 area Junior girls and 1 camp counselor attend the SW Iowa 5th and 6th grade camp at Camp Madrid in June! A link has been provided so that you can view ALL the camp pictures and see that a good time was had by everyone that attended!

On June 23rd we hosted a day camp for K thru 3rd graders at Botna Bend Park. We had almost 50 kids that day!!!

May 31st was our Fish Iowa Camp at Arrowhead State Park in Neola. We had 5 4-Her's, 3 CYC members, 2 parents, 1 speaker, and 4 Extension Office staff attend.

The Iowa 4-H Foundation announces a special opportunity for all 4-H members to participate in the second annual statewide photo exhibition titled, “4-H’ers in Action!” The exhibition will again feature the best photo from each participating county on display at the 2008 Iowa State Fair. Photos selected for the exhibition will also be considered for a 2009 calendar and other 4-H promotional materials.

Clothing Selection, Fashion Revue, and $15 Challenge photos

On June 21st East Pottawattamie held their Clothing Selection, Fashion Revue, and $15 Challenge Event. We had 6 participants and the judge had some very hard decisions to make! The girls all had a great time and enjoyed their shopping experiences!
