Issues
Investigation: Investigating Climate
Change
Youth in Grades 4-8
Issues Investigation is a resource for the classroom and nonformal clubs/programs that helps youth develop the life skill of making decisions about an issue. The core of the curriculum focuses on a four-step model for investigating an issue and taking responsible action. The four steps are: What is an issue? What do I need to know about the issue? What are other people saying about the issue? How do I plan and take responsible environmental action? (Environmental Issues Instruction (eii) model)
Level One Booklet Issues Investigation: The Three
Little Pigs Investigate Climate Change
Youth investigate weather, climate and biomes as they assist the
three little pigs, who each live in a different biome, in designing
an appropriate house. Fourteen hands-on activities investigate
precipitation, water cycles, clouds, climate, biomes, greenhouses,
and whats been said about possible global warming.
Level Two Booklet Issues Investigation: Goldilocks
and the Three Bears Investigate Climate Change
Youth investigate our just right atmospheric
conditions with environmental reporter Goldilocks and Baby Bear of
the three bears fame. Ten hands-on activities investigate the
atmosphere, greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide, your contributions, and
whats being said about possible global warming.
An accompanying educator/helper guide provides information on the issues model, helpful hints, background information and answer keys for both levels of booklets for youth.
An Issues Investigation kit is available to check out from your county Extension office.
