Exploring a New World: Cells and Microscopes
Exploring a New World is designed to
provide students with hands-on science and technology activities that:
- teach science and technology
concepts related to cells and the use of microscopes,
- provide students with
experiential learning opportunities that promote development of
appropriate science and life skills,
- introduce students to the
scientific and technological field of biotechnology, and
- stimulate
student interest in pursuing careers in science and technology.
The curriculum is designed to take 4-5 hours of classroom time to complete
with activities ranging from 25 to 40 minutes in length. The curriculum may be
taught by the classroom teacher with a microscope kit checked out from the
local Iowa State University County Extension Office.
