Aerospace
Skills for Life Series
Youth grades K-12
The fascination of flying an airplane, launching a rocket, conquering space, and becoming an astronaut or pilot will come alive to youth as they explore these 4-H aerospace materials. They are designed to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for the limitless opportunities in the exciting aerospace area. Through fun and challenging learn-by-doing activities, youth will not only learn about flying, kites, hot air balloons, remote control air planes, gliders, and space shuttles, but they also will develop important life skills that will prepare them for the work place. These skills include team work, communications, resource management, decision making, and problem solving.
A total of five pieces are available in this series. The first four activity guides, Pre-Flight, Lift Off, Reaching New Heights, and Pilot in Command have been designed to be developmentally appropriate for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 respectively but may be used by youth in any grade based on their skills and expertise. The fifth piece, Flight Crew, has been designed to provide group activities that can be organized very quickly and conducted with a group of usually 3-15 youth.
