The teams may include elementary, middle, and high school science teachers, along with agriculture and family and consumer science teachers. The focus is for the teams to experience hands-on biotechnology activities and laboratories beginning with cells and microscopes through high school biotechnology laboratory protocols. An emphasis will be placed on biotechnology lab protocols and necessary preparation techniques needed for labs such as DNA extraction and DNA fingerprinting. Access to supplies and laboratory equipment will be explained. The workshop will be tailored to the needs of the group of teachers in attendance so the content may vary.
