On September 26th, Dubuque County Master Gardeners are sharing their plants with the community at a very discounted rate! Find perennials, flowers, ground covers, and more for last minute touches to your garden or landscape at the Master Gardener Fall Plant Sale.

As the summer draws to a close, most home gardeners are cleaning up and preparing for fall and winter. Among those tasks are planting fall bulbs and overwintering tender perennials indoors. The Dubuque County Master Gardener monthly Lunch n’ Learn talk for October will share ideas about different storage practices, how to plant fall bulbs, and how to get tender plants through the winter indoors.

Not ready to throw in the towel yet? Learn how to extend your garden season and enjoy your garden harvests well into fall. This hands-on workshop will cover basic garden season extension strategies including fall plantings, cold frames and row covers, and more. October 1st, 6pm at the Dubuque Rescue Mission.

Become a Fruit TreeKeeper in Dubuque and gain hands-on experience caring for fruit and nut trees! Fruit TreeKeepers learn about tree biology, planting & maintenance, fruit & nut tree varieties, organic management & care, and harvesting techniques. August 24th and 31st at the Dubuque Arboretum. 6-8pm.

Dubuque County Master Gardener “Lunch n’ Learn” talk on Wednesday, September 2nd, 12:15 – 1:00pm, at the Multicultural Family Center about season extension.
Techniques such as fall plantings, succession planting, row covers, hoop houses, and cold frames will be discussed. Participants are welcome to bring their own suggestions and experiences with season extension to share with the group. Resources on how to implement these techniques will be shared at the talk.
