Dubuque County 4-H partners with Kwik Stop

For more than five years, the Dubuque County 4-H Youth Leaders have been participating in the Happy Feet Program. This program is sponsored by the youth leaders, with every dollar raised going directly towards the purchase of shoes and boots for underprivileged kids in Dubuque County. The youth leaders contact area schools asking for the number of shoes needed along with shoe sizes and deliver the items to the schools to be passed out to the youth. Throughout the year, youth leaders participate in a number of fundraising programs including a steak dinner and a candy sale during the fair.
The youth leader’s partnership with Kwik Stop has helped raise thousands of dollars to go towards the purchase of shoes and boots. This past week, Kwik Stop, an affiliation of Rainbo Oil Company, presented the youth leaders with a check for $2,696.65. Emily Costello, 4-H Queen and 4-H Youth Leader accepted the check on behalf of the youth leaders for Happy Feet.
“It’s great knowing that we’re able to give shoes to kids who need them and being able to deliver them to the schools,” said Emily. “It’s also fun for us to go shopping for the shoes and pick out some that we think boys and girls will like. In addition to our partnership with Kwik Stop and having a steak dinner fundraiser each year, we also have a candy bar sale at the fair that the youth leaders sell in the 4-H building, with all proceeds going towards Happy Feet.”
With the tremendous community and business involvement, the money raised for Happy Feet continues to provide new footwear for well-deserving kids in the area. Thank you to Kwik Stop and Dubuque County for your contributions and support!
