School Enrichment
Through a partnership with schools, Extension provides 6 hours of experiential subject content materials designed to meet national standards
- On My Own and OK: Prepares 4th graders to be at home without adult supervision, addresses safety, first aid, and feelings. Parent materials included.
- Growing in the Garden: Engages k-3rd graders in growing plants and learning about the environment. This can be a school or summer program. See also.
- Elementary Engineering: Bridges and Structures: Working together 3-5th graders build a structure large enough to crawl through and evaluate their design. See also.
- Rockets Away! The Science of Motion : Activities for 4-6th graders explore motion, gravity and aerodynamics. A pop bottle is launched as a final project. Guides and materials included. See also.
- Robotix® Roving on Mars: Students in 6-12th grades learn about Mars, design explorations vehicles and collect and interpret data. See also.
- Exploring the Universe: The kit contains telescope, star finders and astronomy activities for all grades (k-12). See also.
Special Programs
- Dig Those Dinosaurs: The mighty dinosaurs are explored by k-1st graders as paleontologists during this summer program.
- Fizz, Bubble, Goo: Scientists in 2-3rd grades make bubbles, root beer and explore 'mystery compounds' found in the home.
- Babysitting Class:
- 4-H Fish Iowa: Spend the day learning about rigging poles, knots, caring for the catch, safety, and basic ecology.
