Dubuque's AmeriCorps Project
One-on-one academic support - Members are paired with elementary through high school-aged students providing daily individual attention during school and summer school.
Cultural/recreational enrichment - Members provide group activities in playgrounds and at neighborhood centers before and after school and during the summer.
Project outcomes - include improvement in student math and reading skills, improvement in student social and behavioral skills and increases in Member skills.
Member development - includes ongoing training activities increasing personal and professional skills.
Community service activities - Martin Luther King Day, Make A Difference Day, and Volunteer Week are annual events. Other service projects are developed throughout the year.
Portfolios of experience - are created by each Member to outline their experiences and highlight significant events.
