2012 Iowa Pork Regional Conferences slated for March 6-9

The Iowa Pork Producers Association has teamed up with the Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach swine specialists to host regional conferences. The one in our area is in Iowa City on March 9th.

ISU Extension Hosts Milk Quality Workshops

With changes in milk quality standards, producers need to be at the top of their game with herd management practices that lead to improved cow health and milk quality. ISU Extension and Outreach in partnership with area milk, veterinary, nutrition, and milk equipment associates are hosting several workshops to help producers evaluate their own operation’s milk quality standards.

Second Farmland Drainage Workshop to Be Held Jan. 30

The Great Plains Growers Conference will be held Jan. 5-7, 2012, at the Fulkerson Conference Center on the Missouri Western State University Campus. The conference and tradeshow is a collaborative effort of growers associations and extension services from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota, and each year draws hundreds of producers from the region and beyond.
Central Iowa Expo Announces a Major Gift from Monsanto

Farmland Value Reaches Historic $6,708 Statewide Average

Average Iowa farmland value is estimated to be $6,708 per acre, an increase of 32.5 percent from 2010, according to results of the Iowa Land Value Survey conducted in November. This is the highest percentage increase ever recorded by the Iowa State University annual survey.
